The Town of North Redington Beach was originally governed by three town officials, a Mayor-Commissioner and two Commissioners.
In 1972, two commissioners were added to the Town Commission. The governing body has remained constant since then.
Each of the five commissioners serves a two year term. The Mayor and Commissioners from Seat 1 and 2 are elected in odd-numbered years. The Commissioners in Seats 3 and 4 are elected in even-numbered years.
Regular commission meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 6 pm at Town Hall, 190 – 173rd Avenue East. The agenda is posted in advance on the Town Hall bulletin board and on the town website at www.TownofNRB.com. Residents are given an opportunity before each meeting to address the commission on any issue not included as an agenda item.
The Town also has a Planning and Zoning Board that meets as needed for any issues falling under their purview. Variance requests are heard on an as needed basis by the Townís Special Magistrate.
A Beach Advisory Board also meets, as needed, to discuss issues that would impact the beach. The Beach Advisory Board reviews any new or amended beach concession licenses, large beach events and any other major activities that would occur on the beach. The recommendation of the Beach Advisory Board is then forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for final vote.
The Town staff includes the Town Clerk, Deputy Town Clerk and two Public Works employees. Staff is available to assist residents at Town Hall, 190 – 173rd Avenue; Monday 8:00-5:00 PM and Tuesday through Friday from 7:00-5:00 PM or by phone at 727-391-4848.
